How to Play 8Soluna
To play 8Soluna you fill a grid with two symbols — ☀️ Sun and 🌙 Moon — following three simple rules, until every cell is filled and no rule is broken. It never relies on luck: every puzzle has one unique solution and can be solved with reasoning alone.
What is the goal of the game?
Fill the entire grid with ☀️ and 🌙 without breaking any rule. When every cell is filled and no rule is violated, you win.
What are the rules?
There are three core rules. Learn these and you can play any puzzle:
- Balance. Each row and each column must contain an equal number of ☀️ and 🌙. On a 6×6 grid, that means 3 suns and 3 moons in every row and column.
- No triples. You cannot have 3 identical symbols in a row, horizontally or vertically. ☀️☀️ is allowed; ☀️☀️☀️ is not.
- Connectors. Between some cells you'll see a = (the two neighbours must be the same) or a × (the two neighbours must differ).
Some cells start already filled — these are the starting clues and can't be changed.
How do I place a symbol?
Tap (or click) an empty cell to cycle through the states: empty → ☀️ → 🌙 → empty. Keep tapping until you reach the symbol you want. Locked cells are fixed clues and won't change.
What does the # connector mean?
The # is an advanced connector that combines two conditions at once: the cell right after it is the opposite of the previous one, and the cell after that repeats it. The pattern is always different, then equal — for example ☀️ # 🌙 🌙.
How do I win faster?
Always start from what is forced, never from a guess:
- If a row or column already has the maximum of one symbol (half of it), every remaining cell must be the other symbol.
- If two identical symbols sit side by side, the next cell must be the opposite, or you'd make a triple.
- A symbol flanked by two of the same (the ☀️_☀️ pattern) forces the middle to be the opposite.
- Solve the =, × and # connectors first — they lock several cells at once.
Work by deduction at all times. If you feel you have to guess, there's a logical step you haven't spotted yet — use the hint to find it.
Are there harder puzzles?
Yes. Advanced levels add extra mechanics, all still solvable by pure logic:
- Balanced regions: a highlighted group of cells must also be half ☀️ and half 🌙.
- Neighbour counts: a number in a cell tells you how many of its neighbours are ☀️.
- Diagonal no-triples: the no-3-in-a-row rule also applies along diagonals.
- Linked pairs: two distant cells connected by = or × at a distance.
